What, Exactly, Is a story?

The number one complaint I've heard from acquisitions editors I've been friends with over the years is that they get stacks and stacks of book-length manuscripts that are technically well-written, have great characters, interesting settings, and lots of exciting events, but . . .

"THERE'S NO STORY THERE!"

Definitions of story are many and diverse, but not always helpful to a new writer trying to figure out how to build one. My new YouTube video offers a definition of story designed to help writers gain a vision of the target for which they're aiming when they sit down to write.
