Introduction: Craft Your Own Writing Adventure
One of the questions authors seem to be asked the most boils down to something along the lines of, โHow do you do that?!โ
Iโve had a great time teaching fiction writing in the Community Education Department at Utah Valley University and at several writing conferences. However, Iโve found it difficult to both teach and keep moving forward with my writing at the same time, given the other constraints of my current life. It seems I really only have the bandwidth to do one or the other on a consistent, focused basis.
Because of that, Iโve chosen to step back a bit from teaching and just focus on my writing for a while. (I know youโre waiting for the next booksโI read all your emails!)
But I do miss teaching, so Iโve decided to keep doing it over on my (sadly neglected) YouTube channel. That way, I can not only fit lesson prep into the available crevices in my schedule, I can also reach more students at once. And you can go watch the videos when it fits into your schedule. And that way everyone is happy.
So, welcome to my new writing instruction video series, Craft Your Own Writing Adventure! In this series, I will share actionable, concise writing advice for those who want to create works of fiction. If you've always wanted to write a book but don't know how to get started, start here, my friend. I'll begin with the basics and work up from there.
Be sure to visit the Map Your Journey page for a video topic map so you can find the topics that will help you most as you go on your own, customized journey through the lessons. You'll also find a page there that allows you to vote for which topic you'd like to see me cover next, as well as the Card File page, which will have a master list of all the printable reference cards for the series.
Thanks in advance for your patience as I gradually add to this video library (and push the books forward toward publication!).
